Memorial Day Trail Run : Belcher Tract, Memorial Day weekend May 2026

The Memorial Day Trail Run is a trail running event on Memorial Day weekend held at the Belcher Tract near Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, Alabama. The event is part of the Southeastern Trail Series and offers two course options that run past Belcher Lake, Demopolis Lake and Summit Lake and include sections on Belcher Road, a long gravel road that runs along the mountain and ridge.

Distances include:

  • 6.76 miles - about 894 ft elevation gain
  • 12 miles - about 1,631 ft elevation gain

The event uses timing tags that strap to the ankle. Aid stations provide Tailwind hydration drinks. A preview run is planned with the start at the north parking lot of the Belcher Tract; the preview date is to be announced.

Packet pickup and late registration are available the day before and the morning of the event at locations near the north entrance. A parking fee of $5 is charged at the entrance; overflow parking is available at North Shelby Baptist Church. Registration opens in December and closes in May.

Place awards are given as runners finish. Awards include overall 1st through 3rd male and female, age group awards for Masters 40 to 49, Grand Master 50 to 59, Ultra Grand Master 60 plus, and 14 and under awards for the shorter course.
