The Memorial Day Trail Run takes place on a Saturday during Memorial Day weekend in May 2026 at the Belcher Tract near Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, AL. The event offers two trail race options:

  • 6 mile
  • 12 mile

The shorter course has been measured at about 6.76 miles with approximately 894 ft of elevation gain. The 12 mile course reports about 1,631 ft of elevation gain. Sections of the routes follow Belcher Road and pass three lakes: Belcher Lake, Demopolis Lake, and Summit Lake. Runners encounter ridge-line sections with views above Demopolis Lake.

The start is at the iron gate at the north entrance to the Belcher Tract, accessed from Hwy 280. There is a $5 parking fee at the entrance. A parking lot off Belcher Road is noted to hold about 50 cars; overflow parking is at North Shelby Baptist Church.

Logistics include packet pickup and late registration the Friday before and the morning of the race at locations near the Belcher Tract. The event is timed with HUTAGS ankle timing devices; participants are asked not to leave wearing the timing tag. Tailwind hydration drinks are provided at aid stations.
