Event overview

The Memorial Day Trail Race is a trail running event on Memorial Day weekend in May 2026. It is the third race of the Southeastern Trail Series and takes place at the Belcher Tract at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, Alabama. Registration opens December 1 and closes in mid-May; there is a shirt registration cutoff in early May. A $5 parking fee applies at the north entrance parking area.

Course and logistics

  • 6.76 miles - 894 ft elevation gain
  • 12 miles - 1,631 ft elevation gain

Both distances run on trails around the Belcher Tract and include sections that follow Belcher Road, a gravel road that runs from the top to the bottom of the mountain and passes Belcher Lake, Demopolis Lake, and Summit Lake. The race course maps and elevation profiles are available for each distance. Timing is done with HUTAGS that strap to the ankle. Packet pickup and late registration are offered on the Friday and Saturday before the race, with Saturday pickup at the pavilion at the north entrance. There is limited parking in the north lot and overflow parking at nearby church property. Place awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers, with age-group awards for Masters (40-49), Grand Master (50-59), and Ultra Grand Master (60+); the 6-mile also has awards for 14-and-under male and female. A preview run is planned; the date is to be announced. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
