Zombie Backyard Ultra - Pelham, AL

Zombie Backyard Ultra is a Last Zombie Standing backyard format running event held on August 29, 2026 at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, AL. The course is a loop of 4.167 miles (4 miles 880 feet) with roughly 500 feet of elevation gain and loss per lap. The event is limited to 100 entrants.

Runners may set up a tent or canopy with supplies near the start area. Limited aid is available at the start and finish. Each loop must be completed within one hour to count. Competitors must be in the starting corral at the bell to begin each loop and must start at the bell; warning bells sound at three, two, and one minute before each loop.

During a loop, competitors may not receive personal aid and, except for restrooms, may not leave the course until the lap is complete. Non-competitors are not allowed on the course. Artificial aids such as trekking poles are prohibited. Slower runners are required to allow passes.

The winner is the last individual who completes one more loop than any other runner. If no competitor can complete an extra loop beyond all others, there is no winner. All participants receive results showing distance covered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
