Zombie Backyard Ultra

Zombie Backyard Ultra is a Last Zombie Standing event at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, AL, located at 200 Terrace Drive. The course is a single loop of 4.167 miles (4 miles 880 feet) with roughly 500 ft of elevation gain and loss. Runners are permitted to set up a tent or canopy with their supplies near the start area. Limited aid is available at the start and finish.

The event uses a backyard format. Each loop must be completed within one hour and each new loop starts precisely one hour after the previous. A measured starting corral sized to hold the entire field remains the same throughout the event. A warning bell sounds three, two, and one minutes before each loop; competitors must be in the starting corral at the bell to begin the next lap.

Rules note that except for restroom use a competitor may not leave the course during a loop, personal aid is not allowed while on a loop, and artificial aids such as trekking poles are prohibited. Slower runners must allow passes and no non competitors are permitted on the course. The winner is the last individual to complete a loop; if no runner completes one more loop than anyone else, there is no winner. All other participants receive results listing distance covered. The race is capped at 100 entries and registration closes Mon, Aug 24 at 11:59 PM CT. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
