Railroad Reckoning - Railroad Park, Birmingham, AL

Railroad Reckoning is a looped running event held inside Railroad Park in downtown Birmingham. The course is a roughly 0.78 mile loop that begins at the Railroad Park Pavilion. Participants run repeated loops while meeting progressively shorter cutoff times.

The first loop has a 12 minute cutoff (about a 15+ minute per mile pace). The second loop cutoff is 11 minutes 50 seconds. Each subsequent loop reduces the cutoff by 10 seconds. Runners continue until they miss a cutoff or choose to stop.

A fully stocked aid station is provided on course. Each participant receives a certificate showing total distance covered. Awards are presented to the final three male and final three female runners remaining. Participants also receive a custom Railroad Reckoning shirt; extras may be available on race day.

A portion of each registration fee benefits Freshwater Land Trust. Registration opens May 13, 2026 and closes June 13, 2026. The registration fee is $47.00. Event location is listed as 1600 1st Ave S, Birmingham AL 35233. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
