Located in Pinson, Alabama at Turkey Creek Nature Preserve (3906 Turkey Creek Rd), the Darter Dash is a 5k and 10k trail run presented by the Birmingham Ultra Trail Society (BUTS). Runners traverse wooded trails with moderate elevation and a stretch of pavement, along Turkey Creek, in a preserve known for Vermilion Darter habitat. This year's field is capped at 125 participants. Highlights include a Splash Challenge tubing down a waterfall at the finish, plus a pancake breakfast with mimosas, awards for top finishers, and post-race mingling with sponsors. Proceeds support educational programs at the preserve. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
