Race to the Tower Trail Run

Race to the Tower Trail Run takes place at Palisades Park in Oneonta, AL and offers multiple looped trail distances. The course is roughly half park road and half improved trail, with flagging, signs, and volunteers to guide runners. Parts of the course are on open roads so participants should watch for cars.

Available distances:

  • 5K
  • 10K (two loops of the 5K)
  • 15K (three loops of the 5K)
  • 20K (four loops of the 5K)

The route begins at the tower and follows service roads, Palisades Parkway, Old Road Trail, Rocky Trail, Dogwood Trail, Trail of Trees, and paths by the Meditation Chapel. Water is available at a self-serve stop on Old Road Trail and at a pavilion water stop. Runners should follow course flagging and posted signs.

A waiver must be signed to climb the tower; finisher medals for those who climb will be available at the top. Climbing the tower is optional and not required for an official finish time. There is a three hour course cutoff. Regular running shoes are acceptable.

Logistics notes include packet pickup on race morning, parking in the main lot, no race day registration, race proceeds benefiting OHS Cross Country, and $5 from each entry donated to Palisades Park. Shirts are available with paid registration through April 16, 2026. This event does not offer refunds or transfers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
