Race to the Tower Trail Run

Race to the Tower Trail Run is scheduled for May 16, 2026 at Palisades Park in Oneonta, AL. The event offers multiple distance options that use a common looped course that begins and finishes near the park tower.

  • 5K
  • 10K (two loops of the 5K)
  • 15K (three loops of the 5K)
  • 20K (four loops of the 5K)

The course is roughly half park road and half improved trail. Runners follow marked service roads and trails, pass water stops including a self-serve stop on Old Road Trail and a pavilion water stop, and should watch for flagging, signs and volunteers for direction. The course is not completely closed to traffic. A three hour cutoff applies.

Climbing the park tower is optional. Runners who complete one of the distances and sign a waiver may climb the tower to receive a finisher's medal that will be placed at the top; the waiver is valid for the day. Official finish times are recorded regardless of whether a runner climbs the tower.

Packet pickup occurs on race day and ends promptly before the race. There is no race day registration this year. Registration is scheduled to open in January 2026 and closes May 10, 2026 at 11:59 PM CT. Awards are given to the first three men and first three women in each division. The event benefits OHS Cross Country and donates five dollars from each entry to Palisades Park. Shirts are available with paid registration through April 16, 2026. This race does not offer refunds or transfers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
