Race to the Tower Trail Run

The Race to the Tower Trail Run is scheduled for May 16, 2026 at Palisades Park in Oneonta, AL. The event offers several looped distances that use a combination of park road and improved trail. Registration opens in January 2026 and closes on May 10.

Distances

  • 5K
  • 10K (two loops of the 5K)
  • 15K (three loops of the 5K)
  • 20K (four loops of the 5K)

The course surface is roughly half park service road and half improved trail. The route includes a series of loops with marked flagging, signs, and volunteer direction; participants should watch for cars because the course is not completely closed. Water is available at a self-serve stop near Old Road Trail and at a pavilion water stop. There is a three hour cutoff for the event.

Climbing the park tower is optional. A signed waiver is required to climb and that waiver is valid for the entire day. Runners who complete a distance and climb the tower can collect a finisher's medal at the top; climbing is not required to receive an official finish time.

Race logistics note packet pickup occurs on race day at the pavilion and parking is in the large lot. No race day registration will be offered. The event benefits OHS Cross Country and allocates five dollars from each entry to Palisades Park. Shirts are available with paid registration through April 16, 2026. The event does not offer refunds or transfers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
