The Endless Mile

The Endless Mile is a multi-day, timed running event held October 22 through 25, 2026, at Veteran's Park in Alabaster, Alabama (7305 Highway 119). The event offers timed options for solo runners and informal teams on a USATF certified and sanctioned loop course.

The course is a paved, lighted loop measuring exactly 1.00203 miles. Total elevation gain per loop is about 12 to 15 feet. The path passes through wooded areas and by several lakes and is located inside a 90 acre park that includes picnic areas, shelters, playgrounds, restrooms with running water, soccer fields, and a youth baseball complex.

Participants are electronically chip timed and the system records and displays exact distance covered. Runners may compete solo or run with friends in an unofficial relay format. The event reverses direction every six hours. The aid station is open 24 hours and offers real food, made to order items, and standard aid station fare; Tailwind hydration drink is provided. The race is cupless so participants should bring a cup for cold drinks; hot cups are available for coffee and soups. Course lighting is continuous but spaced widely; most runners use a headlamp overnight. Vehicle and camping parking must follow park rules so each vehicle occupies a single parking space and awnings or extensions must not block adjacent spaces. Finishers receive medals and solo runners reaching 100 or 200 miles receive commemorative buckles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
