Marple Runners 10k Trail Race 2026

The event is the eighth annual trail race organised by Marple Runners and takes place at Brabyns Park, Marple Bridge, SK6 5DT, Stockport on 21 June 2026. It follows parks, countryside and local sights around Marple.

The course is 10 km and mainly off road, using sections of the Marple parkrun route before leaving the park via the canal locks. The route follows back roads and trails via Marple Hall to Chadkirk, climbs a notable hill, then returns along the Peak Forest Canal and crosses the Marple Aqueduct before finishing at Brabyns Park.

Logistics and entries are limited to 350 participants with a minimum age of 16 years. The race is chip timed and race numbers and timing chips will be mailed to entrants. Parking is available near the race headquarters in Marple. A medal is provided and free race photos will be taken by two professional photographers. Course marshals are members of Marple Runners and are described as supportive and cheerful. Prize categories are provided by the organiser. Manchester Backyard Ultra at Giants Seat Scout Camp uses an out and back 4.167 mile loop run every hour until one runner remains. Facilities include hot showers, parking, participant medals, and a winner trophy.

A timed, multi-lap event at Chorlton Water Park using a 5.3 km out and back course along the River Mersey. Runners can cover one lap up to an ultra within a seven hour limit and all participants receive a finishers' medal.

Run the 9.5 km Wincle Trout fell race in the Peak District, featuring a 320 m climb and a river crossing. The event is part of the lively Wincle Village Fete. A shorter 3 km junior race is also available.

A muddy 5 km obstacle course at Thornes Park with uneven grass, woodland paths and rolling hills. Waves run every 15 minutes; participants must be 13 or older and there is a minimum fundraising target of £50.
