Phoenix Ignite is the first event in a 2026 Summer Series of three timed events held at Chorlton Water Park. The series includes Phoenix Ignite, Phoenix Blaze and Phoenix Afterglow. The event offers a choice of lap-based distances on a measured out and back course.

Participants complete laps of a 5.3 km (3.28 mile) out and back course along the River Mersey. The minimum distance is one lap (3.28 miles) and entrants may continue for up to seven hours. The overall course has very little elevation change and is described as flat and fast. All participants receive a finishers' medal or memento.

Distances available include:

  • 5 km
  • 10 km
  • Half marathon
  • Marathon
  • Ultra distance

The terrain is off road trail on a riverside towpath. A vegetarian aid station will be open throughout the day with many vegan and gluten free options; examples listed include bananas, dates, jelly sweets, crisps, cake, squash and full sugar cola. Participants with severe, life threatening allergies are advised to bring their own food; requests for specific items should be made at least seven days in advance.

Facilities at Race HQ include toilets and changing rooms. Parking is available for 75 cars at Hardy Farm and up to 100 additional spaces at Sale Water Park, a 15 minute walk from the start. Places are strictly limited. A donation of £1 per participant will be made to Carrington Animal Rescue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
