Phoenix Ignite, Manchester

Phoenix Ignite is the first event in a 2026 Summer Series of three timed events held at Chorlton Water Park. The series includes Phoenix Ignite, Phoenix Blaze and Phoenix Afterglow. The event offers a choice of lap-based distances on a measured out and back course.

Participants complete laps of a 5.3 km (3.28 mile) out and back course along the River Mersey. The minimum distance is one lap (3.28 miles) and entrants may continue for up to seven hours. The overall course has very little elevation change and is described as flat and fast. All participants receive a finishers' medal or memento.

The terrain is off road trail on a riverside towpath. A vegetarian aid station will be open throughout the day with many vegan and gluten free options; examples listed include bananas, dates, jelly sweets, crisps, cake, squash and full sugar cola. Participants with severe, life threatening allergies are advised to bring their own food; requests for specific items should be made at least seven days in advance.

Facilities at Race HQ include toilets and changing rooms. Parking is available for 75 cars at Hardy Farm and up to 100 additional spaces at Sale Water Park, a 15 minute walk from the start. Experience a scenic 5 mile multi terrain race through the historic Woodbank and Vernon Parks. This chip timed event features undulating trails alongside the Goyt Valley and finishes in the iconic Woodbank Stadium.

A fell race from Errwood Reservoir up the Stakeside path to the summit of Shining Tor and along the ridge to Pym's Chair, marshalled by Buxton Mountain Rescue with registration at Errwood Sailing Club. Entry fee is £12.

Experience a scenic 5k multi terrain trail race through the paths of the Tame Valley. This two lap course features riverside bridleways and woodland trails for a unique off road running experience near Hyde.

A village fell race in mid May around Hayfield featuring a course of about 3 miles and 700 ft ascent that includes the summit of Lantern Pike. Entry is on the day with modest fees for seniors and juniors.
