Aggies Staircase is a category AS fell race held on 23 June 2026 around Darwen. The course is about 6.4 km / 4 miles with approximately 350 m / 1148 ft of ascent. The route starts at the top of Punstock Road on the Punstock Road green and returns to the finish at the top of Punstock Road.

The route includes three climbs in sequence: Jubilee Tower, Jacobs Mound and Aggies Staircase. After the initial footpath and track sections past Robin Hoods cottage the course rises to Darwen Tower, descends through a small quarry, then climbs toward Bold Venture Park and Jacobs Mound. For 2026 the Jacobs Mound climb will be redirected to a more runnable line. Competitors then cross the moor top and descend to the foot of Aggies Staircase before a final ascent and return below the Tower.

Tail runners may be directed by marshals onto a slightly shorter route if required. All Darwen Dashers races are held in accordance with FRA safety requirements and rules for competition and the event carries the associated permit and insurance. The event location is Borough Rd, Darwen, BB3 2SY. Entry is by pre-entry only; minimum age is 14. Pre-entry fees are £6 for FRA members and £8 for non-members.
