Course Details
The race starts on Punstock Road green in Darwen. The route features three distinct climbs: Jubilee Tower (Darwen Tower), Jacob’s Mound, and the race's namesake, Aggies Staircase. From the start, runners climb a footpath to a track near Robin Hood's cottage, then follow an enclosed path to the main track leading to Darwen Tower. After descending through a small quarry towards Bold Venture Park, the course turns right to climb Jacob’s Mound. It then crosses the moor top to the foot of Aggies Staircase, described as the shortest but steepest of the three climbs. From the top, the route returns below the Tower and descends back towards Sunnyhurst, finishing by retracing steps past Robin Hood's cottage and down a path to the finish on Punstock Road green. Marshals may direct tail runners onto a slightly shorter route if necessary.
The event is organized by the Darwen Dashers and held in accordance with Fell Runners Association safety requirements and rules. The venue address is Borough Rd, Darwen, BB3 2SY.
