Phoenix Manchester - Not the London or Manchester Marathon Run

Phoenix Manchester stages a lap-based timed trail event at Hardy Farm, Chorlton Water Park, along the River Mersey. The event on Saturday 24 April 2027 allows participants to complete as many or as few laps as they wish, with a minimum of one lap. All finishers receive a bespoke finishers' medal; completing a single lap qualifies as a finisher.

Available distance options include:

  • 5 km
  • 10 km
  • Half marathon
  • Marathon
  • Ultra

The course is off road on a riverside towpath with very little elevation change, making it a generally flat route. The event operates with a 7 hour time limit for total distance covered. A mandatory race brief is sent a week before the event and is required reading for participants. Chosen charity is listed as TBC.

An aid station is available throughout the event offering vegetarian items, many vegan options and gluten free or free from items. Typical offerings include bananas, dates, jelly sweets, crisps, cake, squash and full sugar cola. Participants with severe, life threatening allergies are advised to bring their own food due to potential cross contamination.

Facilities at Race HQ include toilets and changing rooms. Parking is available for 75 cars at Hardy Farm on a first come, first served basis, with additional parking for up to 100 cars at Sale Water Park approximately 15 minute walk away, plus further public and paid parking around Chorlton Water Park. Pricing is shown as £40.00 affiliated and £42.00 unaffiliated. UK Athletics distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under; further details are in the event terms and conditions.
