Event Details

The Machen Mountain Race is a fell running event. The course covers a distance of 7 km with an ascent of 365 m (approximately 4.3 miles and 1200 ft).

Registration and Venue

Registration takes place at the Machen Welfare Ground on Tyn-Y-Waun Road in Machen (CF83 8LA). Parking is available in the recreation ground. The start and finish line is located on Church Street, near the Machen Stores mini supermarket.

Participation and Entry

The entry fee is £7, payable on the day only. Participation is limited to runners over 18 years of age.

Course and Equipment

The race takes place on steep, loose, and uneven fell terrain. Runners are advised to wear footwear suitable for slippery conditions, such as trail or fell shoes. The race director may mandate that participants carry at least a windproof running jacket, and in severe weather, windproof leggings may also be required.
