Pen Y Fan Challenge (26 July 2026)

The event is a trail running race at postal code LD3 8NL that includes the summit of Pen Y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales. There are two distance options:

  • 5 miles - trail route including Pen Y Fan summit.
  • 13 miles - longer trail route including Pen Y Fan summit.

The minimum age is 16 on the event date. Entries open 27 July 2025 and close 20 July 2026. Entry fees listed are: UKA Member 5 miles £22, Non Member 5 miles £24, UKA Member 13 miles £30, Non Member 13 miles £32. The entry list shows 7 participants so far.

Race services and compulsory kit

The entry price includes a buff, a medal, chip timing, a National Trust contribution fee, a signed posted and marshalled route, and end-of-race refreshments: water and sweets at the end of the 5 mile race and at one checkpoint on the 13 mile race. Compulsory kit for the 5 mile race: mobile phone, hydration (minimum 500 ml), foil blanket or bivi bag, snacks, basic first aid kit, whistle, windproof jacket, and a reusable cup.
