Pen Y Fan Challenge

The Pen Y Fan Challenge is a trail running event on 26 July 2026 around Pen Y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales. The event uses a marshalled and signed route and is located in the LD3 8NL area.

Both routes visit the Pen Y Fan summit. The entry price includes a buff, a medal, chip timing, a National Trust contribution fee, and a signed and marshalled route. Water and sweets are provided at the finish of the 5 miles and at one checkpoint on the 13 miles.

Compulsory kit requirements are specified for each distance. For the 5 miles this includes a mobile phone, hydration of at least 500 ml, a foil blanket or bivi bag, snacks, a basic first aid kit, a whistle, a windproof jacket, and a reusable cup. For the 13 miles this includes a mobile phone, hydration of at least 2 litres, a foil blanket or bivi bag, snacks, a basic first aid kit, a whistle, waterproof jacket and trousers, hat or buff, gloves, and a reusable cup.
