The Beast of Llangattock takes place on Saturday 22 August 2026 at Park Farm, Llangattock, Crickhowell, Powys. The event offers four distances:

  • 10 km (6 miles)
  • 10 miles (16 km)
  • 20 miles (32.5 km)
  • 32 miles (51 km)

Total ascent is listed as approximately 1,141 ft for the 10 km, 1,723 ft for the 10 mile, 3,446 ft for the 20 mile, and 4,842 ft for the 32 mile. Cut-off times are 4 hours for the 10 km and 10 mile, and 14 hours for the 20 mile and 32 mile. Entry fees vary by distance.

The course is marked and GPX files are provided for each route. The 10-mile loop is used repeatedly for the 20 mile and ultra distances.

Course, facilities and kit

The route leaves Park Farm, follows a short section of the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal, then runs through fields, ancient walkways and up to the Llangattock Escarpment. The course passes features including the Lonely Shepherd stone, Clydach Gorge, Craig y Cilau and the cave systems, then descends into valley woods and returns along the canal. Checkpoints and aid stations are on route; the 20 mile and 32 mile competitors have three refuel zones on each loop, the 10 mile has two, and the 10 km has one light refreshment zone. Checkpoints provide a range of food and drink and cater for dietary requirements.

Facilities include toilets, refreshments, parking (fee), medical and physio support. Mandatory kit lists are enforced and include waterproofs, race vest, map or GPX, at least 1 litre fluid capacity, emergency food, first aid items, foil blanket and appropriate trail footwear.
