The Beast of Llangattock is a trail running event organised by Limitless Trails on Saturday 22 August 2026. The event starts and finishes at Park Farm, Llangattock, Crickhowell, Powys (NP8 1HT). Distances on offer are:
- 10 km (6 miles)
- 10 miles (16 km)
- 20 miles (32.5 km)
- 32 miles / 51 km (ultra)
Entry fees listed are £35 for the 10 km, £48 for 10 miles, £60 for 20 miles and £85 for the 32-mile ultra. The course is marked and GPX files are available.
Course, aid and logistics
Routes leave Park Farm, follow a short section of the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal, cross fields and ancient walkways, then climb to the Llangattock Escarpment and run on Craig y Cilau above cave systems. The course passes the Clydach Gorge, open moorland, valleys, ancient woods and stream sections, and includes steep and technical descents and a stone staircase before returning to the canal.
There are refreshment and aid stations on the route; the 10 km route has one light refreshment zone and longer distances have multiple well stocked aid points and HQ support. Cut-off times are 4 hours for the 10 km and 10-mile races, and 14 hours for the 20- and 32-mile events.
Facilities include toilets, on-site parking (£5), refreshments, a full medical team and physio. The event is cup-free; participants must bring a reusable cup.
Mandatory kit
Mandatory items include a waterproof jacket and trousers, race vest or pack, base layer, capacity to carry 1 litre of fluid, emergency food, map or GPX file, fully charged mobile phone, appropriate trail footwear, basic first aid items and a foil blanket. Ultra runners must also carry hat and gloves, a head torch and whistle. A kit check is carried out at registration and may be repeated during the event.
