Course, facilities and kit

The route starts and finishes at Park Farm and follows canal towpath, fields, ancient walkways and climbs to the Llangattock Escarpment. Later sections cross open moorland and mountain trails above caves at Craig y Cilau, descend into a valley with rivers and woods, and return along a short canal section. Total ascent figures given for the distances include values up to about 4,842 ft for the 32-mile route.

Facilities include toilets, refreshments, a pizza and refreshment van, physio (paid service), a full medical team and parking (£5, with a ballot system for a prize). Aid stations are provided: the 10 km has one light refreshment zone, while the longer routes have multiple well-stocked refuel and water stations including HQ support. Mandatory kit includes waterproof jacket and trousers, race vest or pack, capacity to carry at least 1 litre of fluid, map or GPX file, charged mobile phone, first aid kit, foil blanket and appropriate trail footwear; head torch and spare batteries are required for the ultra.
