Beast of Llangattock

The Beast of Llangattock is a trail running event on 22 August 2026 based at Park Farm, Llangattock, near Crickhowell in Powys. The event is a marked course that follows canal towpaths, fields, ancient walkways, open moorland and mountain trails around the Llangattock Escarpment and Craig y Cilau, passing landmarks such as the Lonely Shepherd stone, the Clydach Gorge and the cave systems below the escarpment.

Distances offered include:

  • 10 km (6 miles)
  • 10 miles (16 km)
  • 20 miles (32.5 km)
  • 32 miles Ultra (51 km)

Each distance has published total ascent values and cut off times: the 10 km and 10 mile routes have a 4 hour cut off and the 20 mile and 32 mile have a 14 hour cut off. The 10 mile loop is used for the 20 and 32 mile options. The 10 km route has one light refreshment zone. Two well stocked energy zones plus HQ support the longer routes and provide additional aid on each loop for 20 and 32 mile runners. Checkpoints provide a variety of food and drinks and cater for dietary requirements including vegan options.

Facilities at HQ include toilets, refreshments, a pizza van, physio support, a full medical team and paid parking managed by a ballot. The event provides GPX downloads, bespoke medals and prizes.
