Los Lobos Six Hour Challenge

Los Lobos is a timed loop challenge held at Wyandotte County Lake Park, based at Shelter 14. The event offers two timed options:

  • 6 Hour Challenge
  • 3 Hour Challenge

The course is a roughly 3-mile loop on the park bridle and single-track trails with at least 700 ft of elevation gain per lap. The route briefly uses a short road section and a field crossing before entering trails, passes near the dog park where off-leash dogs may be present, continues through a green gate onto single track, and includes a notable climb, a steep descent, and a section referred to as Fester's wander before returning to the start.

Aid support is available on course and at the loop start/finish, and porta potties are located at the start/finish area. A small staging area is provided for personal drop bags; runners must check in and out at the start and end of each lap for lap counting. Finishers who accumulate 50k or more on the course receive special recognition. Post-event food is catered by Whiskey River Pizza & Pub and drinks are provided, with finisher beer and nonalcoholic options noted. Photography is provided by Mile 90. Race-day registration is offered for a stated fee; swag availability may be limited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
