The Loon Mountain Race is known as one of the country's toughest mountain races, featuring a kilometer ascent of North Peak via the black diamond trail known as Upper Walking Boss. Participants must register before May 31st to receive a Loon Mountain Race Tech Tee. The race offers a prize purse of $1500 for the top 3 men and women on the Upper Walking Boss challenge. Spectators are allowed, and there is an option to run down the mountain on a marked service road instead of taking the gondola.
