Kismet Cliff Run

The Kismet Cliff Run takes place every September in New Hampshire’s White Mountains. It is part of the 2026 Skyrunner USA Series. Skyraces are known for steep, technical terrain and high-altitude, exposed routes.

The event offers two distances.

  • The Beast of the East Half-Marathon
  • The Little Beast 5 Miler

The Little Beast is a five-mile race on trails around Cathedral and Whitehorse Ledges in Echo Lake State Park. The route includes steep, technical single track and two tough ascents. The Beast of the East adds a loop over North Moat Mountain via Red Ridge, with over 4,300 ft of elevation gain and exposed terrain.

For the half marathon, runners must carry gear including a hydration vest, food, a cell phone, and a rain or wind jacket. Trekking poles are allowed only for the half marathon distance and only after a specific point on the course. The event states there are no official cutoff times due to the remote nature of the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
