Wanakee Wilderness 5K

The Wanakee Wilderness 5K is a trail race scheduled for August 15, 2026, presented as part of the Wanakee Homecoming. Registration is planned to open on or about June 1. The event supports the camp scholarship fund and ongoing improvements to camp facilities.

The course runs across Wanakee’s 227-acre site through hills and woodland valleys in the White Mountains and Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Participants encounter varied trail terrain including northern hardwoods and evergreens, granite rocks and woodland paths, a narrow section called Lemon Squeeze, a scenic Look Out Point, and a waterfront section. The layout is intended to showcase the site Wanakee describes as a "beautiful spiritual place in the hills."

Family and friends can attend as participants or spectators. After the race there is an awards ceremony followed by the Homecoming BBQ and other camp activities. BBQ tickets are priced at $15 for adults and $8 for children ages 6 to 12. The event combines a community gathering with fundraising for the camp.
