Jigger Johnson Ultras is a multi distance trail event held August 14 to 16, 2026 in the White Mountain National Forest with start and finish in Waterville Valley town square. The event offers three courses that use extended mountain trails, ridgelines, and sections of road.

  • 50 Mile: 58 miles, 16,000 ft elevation gain, 30 hour time limit
  • 20 Mile: 20.1 miles, 5,900 ft elevation gain, 24 hour time limit

Course notes describe long climbs and descents over multiple named peaks and ridgelines, exposed sections, and unmarked trail segments requiring map and GPX navigation. Several aid stations are located along the courses and drop bags are permitted; some stretches have long gaps between support points.

Mandatory gear is required for all distances and must be shown at gear check. The required items include basic survival and navigation equipment such as a minimum fluid supply, water filter, calorie supply, trail map, emergency blanket, GPX file on a device, extra battery power, communication device, headlamp and spare batteries, rain jacket, warm hat and gloves, neon safety vest for road sections, and a small first aid kit. Failure to carry required gear can result in disqualification.

Crew access is restricted at remote aid stations. Pacers are permitted under specific rules and must carry the same mandatory gear and complete gear check before assisting a runner. Parking and campground arrangements are centered on Waterville Valley and an off site group campground at Osceola Vista. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
