Jigger Johnson Ultras is a multi-distance trail event held August 14-16, 2026 in Waterville Valley, New Hampshire, within the White Mountain National Forest. The event offers mountain courses with substantial elevation and remote sections.

Distances

  • 100 Mile out-and-back course to South Moat trailhead, 108 miles total
  • 50 Mile point-to-point style course, ~58 miles total
  • 20 Mile single-loop style course, ~20.1 miles total

The 100 mile course lists 29,000 feet of total elevation gain and includes major climbs and descents over Mount Tecumseh, Mount Osceola, Mount Tremont, Big Attitash and North Moat with a turnaround at South Moat. The 50 mile course lists about 16,000 feet of gain and includes summits of three 4,000-foot peaks. The 20 mile course lists about 5,900 feet of gain.

Organizers require mandatory mountain safety gear and verification before the race. Required items include a minimum of 2 liters of water, a water filter, emergency blanket, GPX file uploaded to a device, extra battery power, headlamp, rain jacket, warm hat and a neon safety vest for road sections. Drop bags are allowed at aid stations; runners should use weatherproof bags.

Crew access is restricted at remote aid stations; pacers are permitted only from designated aid stations and must carry the same required gear and complete a gear check.
