The Magnificent Bastards Challenge

The Magnificent Bastards Challenge takes place on July 25, 2026 in Corinth, VT and is organized by Race Mozey. The event includes three formats: Last Runner Standing, Last Rucker Standing, and an Honor Lap.

The Last Runner Standing format uses repeated 1 mile loops with about 300 feet of climbing per loop. Each loop must be completed within 20 minutes. Participants repeat loops until one person remains. The 24th mile is the minimum distance to receive a medal and is offered as a fast lap with a special prize for the quickest time on that lap.

The Honor Lap is a single loop of the same course completed at an individual pace. Registration for the Honor Lap is designated to benefit Northeast Slopes. Participants may check in while the event is ongoing and complete the lap at their own pace.

The Last Rucker Standing format also uses 1 mile loops with about 300 feet of climbing. Initial loop time is 30 minutes. After eight hours the allowed time is reduced by one minute each loop until it reaches 20 minutes, then it remains at 20 minutes for the rest of the event. Male participants must carry 35 pounds in a pack and female participants must carry 25 pounds in a pack; sandbags and weighted vests are not permitted. Pack weight will be checked at the start, at the end, and at random times during the event. Ruckers who complete eight hours receive a medal.

Participants who sign up prior to June 25 are guaranteed custom Race Mozey silkies. Entry prices listed range from USD 24.70 to USD 127.67. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
