Long Mynd Valleys 2026

The Long Mynd Valleys is an 18 km fell race with approximately 1300 m of ascent. The course uses a route introduced in 2024 and includes a mixture of trail and open fell with some mandatory marked sections. Competitors must navigate between a series of checkpoints and use an SI dibber at each control.

The race is run under FRA rules and FRA safety requirements. Competitors must carry the full kit specified by the organisers and the FRA, including waterproof top and bottoms, hat, gloves, emergency food, map, compass and whistle. Random kit checks will take place and failure to carry required equipment or to record all checkpoints will lead to disqualification. Competitors should have previous experience of AM, BL or AL category races or similar and be accustomed to winter conditions. Strict cut-off times are enforced and the course closes after four hours.

Race entry is available by pre-entry and on-the-day entry is subject to availability. Pre-entry fee is £12.50; on-the-day entry is £15.00 cash only when places remain. Minimum age is 19 or older. Event registration and the event centre are at the National Trust Pavilion, Carding Mill Valley, Church Stretton SY6 6JG. Car parking is available at Carding Mill Valley and at Church Stretton School, with charges applying in the National Trust car park for non-members.

The event is organised not for profit and proceeds support the National Trust and local charities. Soup and bread are provided to finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
