Lake Macbride Trail Races - Solon, IA
The Lake Macbride Trail Races are held at Lake Macbride State Park and use trails around the Macbride Spillway parking area as the start and finish location. Distances offered:
- 50K
- 25K
The route begins on the North Loop along crushed limestone adjacent to the lake, includes an out-and-back on the North Shore trail, and moves onto more technical North Snowmobile trails. Runners cross the dam and Spillway to complete a South Loop featuring single track, prairie sections, and some hills. The 50K distance consists of two loops of the planned route. The organizers note the planned route is nearly all on trails and avoids major sections of road or highway.
There are four aid stations per loop, including Opie Road, Start/Finish, University Trails, and Anglers Point. Parking is available at the Coralville Res Boat Ramp lot; the smaller Spillway lot near the start/finish is not for parking. Packet pickup is available the evening before at Big Grove Brewery and on race morning at the Spillway area.
Registration opens February 14, 2026 at 5:00PM and is capped at 175 combined entries in year one. Fees listed are $80 for the 50K and $55 for the 25K; registration includes a T-shirt, commemorative bib, and aid station provisions. T-shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after July 5. Deferrals are allowed through June 19 and expire after one year; there are no refunds or bib transfers. Distance changes are permitted until the Thursday before the race with payment required when moving up. Awards are given to top male and female overall in each distance and to the top three male and female finishers in the age groups 29 & under, 30-45, and 46+.
