Springville Extreme Quarry Run/Walk - 2026
The Springville Extreme Quarry Run/Walk takes place on August 8, 2026 in Springville, Iowa. The event is organized as a timed running and walking event with a single race distance of 6K.
The traditional course starts downtown, proceeds west of town and descends into the working Wendling Quarry, passes through a tunnel blasted under Highway 151, turns around in the quarry, returns through the tunnel and climbs back to downtown. For 2026 the quarry is unavailable due to scheduling conflicts; an alternate 6K route through the town of Springville will be used instead.
Entries include a bib and chip timing; there is a charge for unreturned chips. Registered entrants are entered in a drawing for door prizes and may receive a technical shirt if registration is timely. Prizes are awarded to overall male and female winners and to the top three finishers in each age group. The event is held rain or shine. In case the quarry is used, access will be subject to Wendling Quarries management and their decisions in inclement weather; refunds are not provided.
Wendling Quarries regulations state that children 11 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult and that strollers and pets are not allowed in the quarry. All proceeds will be donated to Springville Sports Boosters.
Packet pickup will occur on race day in the parking lot of the Springville Presbyterian Church at 165 Broadway St. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
