Kunanyi Mountain Run
Kunanyi Mountain Run takes place in Nipaluna / Hobart, Lutruwita / Tasmania from 19 to 21 March 2027. The 2027 event is selected to host the first combined Australian Mountain and Trail Running Championships and will include a range of race distances and formats across the mountain and foothills.
The Palawa people are acknowledged as the traditional owners of the land around Kunanyi. The event includes cultural activities and guided cultural mountain walks.
Distances and main race formats:
- 80 km Ultra, Australian Long Trail Championship 2027
- 66 km Ultra Solo, 3,780 m± elevation
- 66 km Ultra Team Relay, six legs
- 46 km Alpine Marathon, 2,360 m± elevation
- 25 km Mountain Run and Mountain Walk, 1,560 m± elevation
- Vertical Kilometre, 5 km with 1,000 m+ ascent
- Foothills 14 km, 9 km and 5 km
- Kids runs for ages 5 to U15
Qualification requirements apply for the Ultra Solo and Alpine Marathon. Qualifiers must be recent and verifiable online; options include specified trail or road performances and defined pace or time standards. Qualifying records are assessed by the event team.
Registration includes race entry, a unique finishers medal and merchandise, aid stations for specified races, course marking, first aid and medical support, on course photos, drop bags, professional timing and live results, and access to the Runhub and many cultural activities.
