The event is a fell race held in Knowl Hill, England, in the South/West Pennines. The distance is 9.7 km / 6 miles with a total climb of 396 m / 1299 ft. Registration and race headquarters are at Norden Bowling Club, Trinity Street, Norden, Rochdale OL12 7RD. The start is about 500 m from registration and is signposted; allow an extra 15 minutes to walk to the start. The race is category BS and is open to entrants aged 18 and over. Junior races are not provided. The race has a permit and associated UK Athletics insurance from the FRA.

Entry, teams and prizes

Pre-entry and entry on the day are both available. Pre-entry fees are £6.00 for members and £8.00 for non-members. Entry on the day fees are £8.00 for members and £10.00 for non-members. Teams are allowed; the first three team members count, with separate male and female team scoring. This event is the final day of a three-day series run by Rochdale Harriers; the preceding days include a 6-mile road race and a 6-mile trail race. T-shirts are provided for those who complete all three days. Prizes are awarded for each individual race and for the overall three-day winners, male and female.
