Run the Dark: Knockers Solstice Trail Run

This is a night trail running event in West Hobart with an event hub at the Lookout near Forest Road carpark, Knocklofty. It is organised by the Kunanyi Trail Series and takes place on native bushland trails with views of Kunanyi, timtumili minanya/Derwent River and the night lights of Hobart.

The event offers multiple course options:

  • Enduro 11 km, elevation 360 m
  • Sport 6 km, elevation 225 m
  • Explorer 4 km, elevation 130 m

Courses combine wide, smooth firetrail and well-built single track with some technical sections. The Enduro route includes the shared-use trail across Noah's Saddle and uses the newer Knocksofty and Yellow Hippo Track. The Knockers Solstice layout has been adjusted from the regular Knockers courses to avoid the biggest hills at the start and to simplify the loop.

Wildlife such as wallabies, bandicoots and owls may be encountered after dark. Participants are asked to bring a headtorch; a minimum of 300 lumens is recommended. After the run there is food available from Robbie’s Wood-fired pizza and a place to gather while enjoying the night views. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
