Knockers Solstice Trail Run

The Knockers Solstice is a night-time trail running event held in the Knocklofty Reserve near Hobart, Tasmania. Taking place during the winter solstice, the event focuses on navigating native bushland trails by headtorch. The event hub is located at the lookout near the Forest Road carpark.

Participants can choose from three distinct distances:

  • 11 km Enduro
  • 6 km Sport
  • 4 km Explorer

The courses utilize a variety of terrain including wide firetrails and single-track paths. The routes incorporate the Knocksofty trail and the Yellow Hippo Track, as well as a shared-use trail across Noah’s Saddle. While much of the terrain is designed to be runnable, some sections include technical trail elements.

The environment features native vegetation and offers views of Kunanyi, the Derwent River, and the lights of Hobart. Local wildlife, such as wallabies, bandicoots, and owls, are often active in the area during the event. Because the event takes place in the dark, participants are required to use a headtorch, with a recommended minimum brightness of 300 lumens. The event schedule includes a Welcome to Country and briefing before the departures, with pizza and drinks available at the hub. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
