Knickerbocker Canyon Trail Run takes place on March 28, 2026 at American River Overlook Park in Auburn, California. The event offers multiple distances and has a total field capacity of 400 runners. Timing is electronic with disposable chip timing attached to the back of each bib. The Half Marathon and 35K races have a 6.5 hour time limit. Early bib pick-up is available at Fleet Feet - Roseville; morning check-in is at Overlook Park. Parking is free within the park and on adjacent streets.

Course and logistics
Most of the course runs on dirt single-track trails and fire roads, including sections of the historic Western States trail, crossing No Hands Bridge and climbing the K2 training hill and the Dam Hill switchbacks. Hiking poles are permitted. Courses are marked with colored ribbon, laminated signs, and flour arrows at critical sections. Drop bag service is not available.
Aid stations, services and rules
Aid stations provide a variety of foods and beverages (for example, gels, chews, sandwiches, chips, soda, water, and Skratch Labs hydration). This is a cupless event; runners must carry their own bottle or reusable cup. Dogs are permitted on leash in the parks; runners with dogs must start at the back of the pack.
Awards and shirts
All finishers receive a custom medal. The top three overall men and women in each distance receive trophies. Age-group medals are awarded three deep across standard age categories.
