Course, support and logistics
Courses follow the historic Western States trail and include single-track trails along the American River, a crossing at No Hands Bridge, the K2 training climb, and a long series of switchbacks referred to as Dam Hill. The majority of the routes are on moderately technical dirt trails and fire roads; hiking poles are permitted. Courses are marked with colored ribbon approximately every 200 meters, with blue ribbons indicating wrong-way routes.
Inside Trail Racing aid stations provide a variety of foods and beverages (examples include energy gels, chews, trail mix, PB&J, soda, water, and Skratch Labs hydration mix). This is a cupless event; runners must carry their own bottle or reusable cup. Drop bag services are not available. Parking is free at the park and on adjacent streets. Early bib pickup is offered the day before at Fleet Feet - Roseville (1850 Douglas Blvd Ste #418). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
