Knickerbocker Canyon Trail Run is organized by Inside Trail Racing and scheduled for March 27, 2027 in Auburn and Cool, California. The event offers multiple trail distances and uses sections of the historic Western States trail and routes alongside the American River.

Course highlights include a crossing of No Hands Bridge, a steep climb known as the K2 training hill, and a later series of switchbacks called Dam Hill. The 5K and 10K use single-track trails along river banks and canyons; the half marathon and 35K extend toward Cool, California. The course is varied with climbs, descents, and technical single-track sections.
Aid stations supply a range of food and beverages such as Gu energy gels and chews, Stroopwafels, trail mix, pretzels, chips, cookies, Coke, ginger ale, water, Skratch Labs hydration mix, PBJ sandwiches, M and M's, salt tablets, bananas, watermelon, and tangerines. Aid stations include basic first aid items but no anti-inflammatory medicine. Runners are advised to carry at least one 20 oz bottle.
Additional details: parking is free at American River Overlook Park and adjacent streets, total race capacity is 400 across all distances, and a 6.5 hour time limit applies to the 35K. Race shirts are tri-blend performance tees and sizes are guaranteed only if registered by March 13, 2027.
