The event takes place on March 28, 2026, at American River Overlook Park near Auburn and Cool, California. It offers multiple trail distances that follow sections of the historic Western States trail and routes along the American River.
- 35K - 20.8 miles, 4,800' elevation gain
- Half Marathon - 13.3 miles, 3,000' elevation gain
- 10K - 6.1 miles, 1,150' elevation gain
- 5K - 3.5 miles, 650' elevation gain
Courses use moderately technical dirt trails and fire roads with single-track sections, steep climbs such as the K2 training hill, and a long series of switchbacks known as Dam Hill. The Half Marathon and 35K cross No Hands Bridge; longer distances include extended climbs and descents. Hiking or trekking poles are permitted.
Aid stations provide a range of foods and beverages including gels, chews, PB&J sandwiches, salty snacks, soda, water, and Skratch Labs hydration. This is a cupless event; runners are required to carry their own water bottle or reusable cup. Drop bag service is not available.
Additional facts: event capacity is 400 entrants; races are chip timed with disposable chips attached to bibs; parking within the park and on adjacent streets is free; dogs on leash are allowed in the park. There is a 6.5 hour time limit for the Half Marathon and 35K and all runners must be off course by 3:00 PM. To guarantee a shirt size, registration must be completed by March 14, 2026.
