King of the Mountain
King of the Mountain is a 16.1 km trail run on Sunday 28 June 2026 organised by the West Australian Marathon Club. The course is a loop that starts and finishes at Helena Valley Primary School in WA and includes a creek crossing, steep ascents and steep descents.
The main loop runs anticlockwise up the mountain on the north side of the valley and returns via a route south of Helena Valley Road after crossing back over the creek. The principal ascent is about 1.5 km to a granite outcrop marked as the summit; runners circle the summit marker and continue along a short single-track ridgeline to the course high point, then descend back to Victor Road. Parts of the descent and the fire breaks on the return have rough, rocky ground. The route is well marked and there are nine marshalled locations.
There are no water supplies on course, so participants must be self-sufficient with water. A drink station and breakfast are provided at the finish, and a cup of hot soup is served after the run. Bib collection details are pending. A course cut off applies. Online registration closes the day before the event, and a late registration penalty applies from the Saturday before the event for non-members.
Parking near the venue is limited and may be strained; participants should allow time to park and obey local parking rules. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
