Kennewick, United States • 5 Sep 2026
Event
The Jump off Joe races in Kennewick, WA include distances:
- 26.2 mi
- 13.1 mi
- 10k
The event is described as low key and inexpensive. Registration opens January 1st. All three distances start and finish at the same location near the intersection of Owens Road and Highway 397.
Course
All courses run mainly on gravel roads on and around Jump off Joe Mountain. The half and full marathon reach the mountain summit, offering views over the Tri-Cities and down into Oregon. The course is not certified and measured values for distance and elevation may vary slightly. The 10k is an out-and-back with an aid station at the turnaround. The half includes a 5-mile out section, a climb to the summit, and three aid stations (one passed twice). The marathon follows Owens Road and several side roads, includes summit access, and has six aid stations (two passed twice). The entire route is on rough gravel roads; minimalist shoes, Vibram 5-Fingers, and racing flats are not recommended.
Aid stations and logistics
Aid stations are spaced roughly 3 to 5 miles apart. Some stations are limited service (water, gels, electrolytes, ice) and others are full service (PB&Js, chips, fruit, water, electrolytes, pop, gels, ice). The event is cup-less; participants must bring bottles, bladders, or reusable cups. There are no restrooms on the course, and the course is not closed to traffic. Participants must check in at each aid station for accountability. Parking is along Owens Road near the start/finish; do not park on Highway 397.
Registration and awards
Entry fees cover the race, a finisher award, a random drawing entry, and food at the finish. Fees increase on specified dates and online registration closes before race week; day-of and packet pickup registration are available. No refunds or deferrals are offered. A cash award is available for course record performances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
