Jump off Joe Marathon

The event offers three distances on gravel roads on and around Jump off Joe Mountain near Kennewick, WA. Distances follow routes that share a common start and finish near the intersection of Owens Road and Highway 397. The half marathon and marathon reach the mountain summit and provide views over the Tri-Cities and down into Oregon.

The course is run on rough gravel roads and is described as more like a trail run than a typical road race. The course is not certified; multiple measurement methods were used and actual distance and elevation may vary slightly from posted values. Aid stations are spaced roughly 3 to 5 miles apart. Some aid stations are limited service with water, gels, electrolytes, and ice; others offer fuller service including PB&Js, chips, fruit, water, electrolytes, pop, gels, and ice. The event is cup-less; participants must carry their own bottle, bladder, or reusable cup for refilling at aid stations.

Parking is allowed only along Owens Road near the start area; parking on Highway 397 or offroad is prohibited. There are no restrooms on course beyond the start area porta-potty; participants are asked to pack out used toilet paper or wipes and to bury human waste where appropriate. The course is not closed to traffic and runs on private-property adjacent roads, so participants must stay on the road and check in at each aid station. Entry fees cover the race, a finisher award, eligibility for a random prize drawing, and on-course and finish food. No refunds or deferrals are available.
