Jump off Joe Marathon
The event offers three distances on gravel roads on and around Jump off Joe Mountain near Kennewick, WA. It is described as low key and inexpensive and is organized as a social Saturday morning gathering of friends or friends-to-be.
Distances:
- 26.2 miles marathon on gravel roads and mountain approaches.
- 13.1 miles half marathon that reaches the mountain summit.
- 10k out-and-back on Owens Road.
All distances share the same start and finish area near the intersection of Owens Road and Highway 397 (coordinates 46.153992, -119.156997). The courses resemble trail runs more than typical road races, with notable hills and summit views. The course is not certified and measured with multiple methods; actual distance and elevation may vary slightly.
Aid stations are spaced roughly 3 to 5 miles apart. The 10k has an aid station at the turnaround. The half has three aid stations with one passed twice. The marathon has six aid stations with two passed twice. Some stations are limited service; others provide food such as PB&Js, chips, fruit, water, electrolytes, gels, and ice. The race is cup-less; participants must bring bottles, bladders, or reusable cups.
Logistics and rules: day-of packet pickup and in-person registration are available. Park only along Owens Road near the start; do not park on Highway 397. There are no restrooms on the course beyond the start area; pack out used toilet paper or wipes. The course is open to traffic; stay on the roads and follow aid station check-in procedures. Entry fees cover the race, a finisher award, random-drawing prizes, and food. There are no refunds or deferrals. A cash award is offered for breaking a course record.
