The Jane Tomlinson Canal Race Series Race 1 is the first of a three-race series of 5 km runs along a flat canal towpath on the Aire and Calder Navigation in Methley, Leeds. The series is organised by Rothwell Harriers AC to raise funds for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal. The course is measured and marshaled, and prizes are awarded for all age categories for individual races and for the series. Series entrants receive a designed T-shirt and each race provides mementos; medals are given to everyone at the final race. The last race in the series includes a 1.5 mile fun run with a school competition.

    The event date for Race 1 is 5 May 2026. Entry opens on 1 Dec 2025. Entry on the day is not available. Entry limits are set to 500 places for the race. Race licence is applied for. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Race headquarters is the Commercial Pub, 12 Main Street, Methley, LS26 9JE. Facilities at the event include toilets, changing facilities and baggage storage. There are no water stations, no distance markers and no showers. Parking is available around the village; participants are asked not to block driveways.
