Jane Tomlinson Canal Race Series

The event is a three race series of 5 kilometres held on a flat canal towpath along the Aire and Calder Navigation near Methley, Leeds. The course is measured and well marshaled by Rothwell Harriers AC. The series has been established for nearly 20 years and is organised to raise money for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

Race headquarters is at the Commercial Pub, Main Street, Methley, with a short walk to the start. Facilities at the venue include toilets, changing and a baggage store. There are no water stations, no distance markers and no showers. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs. An entry limit of 500 applies and a race licence has been applied for.

Prizes are awarded after each race and cover age categories, individual races and the overall series. There is a £50 prize for breaking the course record and a £100 prize for the club with the most runners. Series entrants receive a designed t shirt and each race provides a memento. The final race includes a 1.5 mile fun run with a school competition, and medals are given to all participants in that last event. The final event also features a BBQ, a raffle and a cake competition. Parking is available around the village; participants are asked to avoid blocking driveways.
