Ilkley Moor Fell Race takes place on 1 March 2026 and is organised by Ilkley Harriers. The race is held on Ilkley Moor with the Race HQ at Wells Road, Ilkley (OS Grid Ref SE117471, postcode LS29 9RF). The HQ is about a 10 minute walk from Ilkley train and bus stations. The event has been staged annually since 1990 and is one of the FRA’s "50 at 50" races.

Course and safety

The senior race is an FRA category AS fell race. The course distance is 8 km with approximately 401 metres of ascent. The terrain includes steep, slippery and rocky descents; the event is marked ER (experience required) and PM (part-marked). There is a one-hour cut-off at the Rocky Valley marshal point, about halfway along the course. The race is run under FRA rules; runners must carry the FRA minimum kit, which includes waterproof whole-body cover with taped seams and an attached hood, hat, gloves and a whistle. Use of GPS or navigation devices is prohibited and there may be random checks.

Entries, juniors and facilities

Pre-entry fees are listed as £8 (affiliated) and £10 (non-affiliated). The event has an entry limit of 400 and on-day entry may be available at a higher fee; the race is often a sell-out. Junior races are held on the same day and have no pre-entry. Facilities at Race HQ include toilets; there are no water stations, distance markers, changing facilities, showers or baggage store.
