Ilkley Moor Fell Race

The Ilkley Moor Fell Race is organised annually by Ilkley Harriers and takes place on Ilkley Moor. The course is short in distance but offers significant climbing and steep, slippery, rocky descents across moorland. It is listed as an FRA AS category race and forms part of the FRA "50 at 50" series. The course measures approximately 8 km with about 401 metres of ascent and is part-marked; experience is required.

Race headquarters are at Wells Road, Ilkley (OS Grid Ref SE117471, postcode LS29 9RF). The HQ is about a ten minute walk from Ilkley train and bus stations. Approach by road should be via Ilkley rather than Keighley Gate Road. The event has an overall entry limit of 400 and offers both pre-entry and on-the-day entry when places remain. Entry fees are shown as £8 for affiliated runners and £10 for unaffiliated runners.

The race is run under FRA rules. Competitors must carry the FRA minimum kit including waterproof whole body cover with taped seams and attached hood, hat, gloves and whistle. Use of GPS devices for navigation is not permitted and there will be random checks. There is a one hour cut-off at the Rocky Valley marshal point about halfway; runners outside this time will be instructed to retire. Junior races are included and require on-the-day registration with no pre-entry. A no smoking policy applies for participants and those involved because of SSSI consent. By entering, competitors agree that images taken during the event may be used for future promotion. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
