Ilkley Moor Fell Race : 1 March 2026, Ilkley, West Yorkshire

The Ilkley Moor Fell Race is organised by Ilkley Harriers and takes place on Ilkley Moor. It is an FRA-category AS fell race and part of the FRA’s "50 at 50" list. The course is 8 km long with 401 m of climb and includes steep, slippery and rocky descents. The route is demanding and partly marked; experience is required.

Course, safety and rules

The event is run under Fell Runners Association (FRA) rules. Runners must carry the FRA minimum kit, which includes whole-body waterproof cover (taped seams and attached hood), hat, gloves and whistle. Use of GPS or equivalent navigation devices is prohibited and there will be random checks. There is a one-hour cut-off at the Rocky Valley marshal point, about halfway through the course; runners outside this limit will be instructed to retire. Junior races take place on the same day and have on-the-day registration; they do not require pre-entry.

Entries, teams and facilities

Pre-entry is available. Entry fees listed for 2026 are £8.00 for affiliated runners and £10.00 for unaffiliated runners. The event has an entry limit of 400. Team entries are allowed (men’s teams of four, women’s teams of three). Race HQ is at Wells Road, Ilkley (OS Grid Ref SE117471, postcode LS29 9RF). Facilities include toilets; there are no water stations, distance markers, changing rooms, showers or baggage storage.
