Ilkley Moor Fell Race

The Ilkley Moor Fell Race is organized by Ilkley Harriers and has been held annually since 1990. The race takes place on Ilkley Moor, featuring a scenic but demanding course.

It is a Fell Running Association (FRA) category AS race. The main senior course covers 8 km with 401 metres of climbing. It involves steep ascents, descents, and sections that are steep, slippery, and rocky. The course is described as short but tough and is only part-marked (PM). Experience is required (ER) to participate. A halfway cut-off point at Rocky Valley enforces a one-hour limit; runners exceeding this time must retire from the race.

Runners must be 16 or older on race day. Those under 18 who have entered must bring a completed FRA Parental Consent Form. The event is run under FRA rules, and competitors must carry the full FRA Minimum Kit List, including waterproof whole-body cover, hat, gloves, and a whistle. The use of GPS devices for navigation is forbidden.

The Race HQ is on Wells Road in Ilkley, a ten-minute walk from Ilkley Train & Bus stations. Pete Bland Sports supports the event by providing winners' prizes and race numbers.

Separate junior races are also held on the same day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
