Ilkley Moor Fell Race
The Ilkley Moor Fell Race is an annual fell running event organised by Ilkley Harriers and held on Ilkley Moor. The course is short at about 8 km with approximately 401 m of climb and features steep, slippery and rocky descents. It is listed as an FRA category AS event and carries the designations ER and PM; runners should expect part-marked sections and be suitably experienced.
Race headquarters are at Wells Road, Ilkley (OS grid ref SE117471, postcode LS29 9RF). The HQ is a short walk from Ilkley train and bus stations. Entry is limited to 400 participants; pre-entry is available alongside the possibility of entry on the day when places remain. Entry fees differ for affiliated and unaffiliated runners.
Fell Running Association rules apply. Competitors must carry the FRA minimum kit, including waterproof whole-body cover with taped seams and an integrated attached hood, hat, gloves and whistle. Use of GPS or equivalent devices for navigation is prohibited and there will be random checks. There is a one hour cut-off at the Rocky Valley marshal point roughly halfway along the course; competitors outside this limit will be instructed to retire.
There are junior races with no pre-entry. Prizes include trophies for first male and first female and awards across multiple age and team categories. A no smoking policy applies and photography consent is requested for promotional use. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
