Hibernal Hills 50 Miles

Horndean, United Kingdom • 7 Feb 2026

Hibernal Hills 50 Miles (and 50K / 20 miles)

The Hibernal Hills events are single-loop trail races that start and finish at Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Horndean, Hampshire. The routes run across the South Downs National Park and pass along the Staunton Way, Monarchs Way and the South Downs Way. The 50 mile race course is listed as 53 miles and includes about 6400 ft of ascent and descent.

The route is described as largely runnable but undulating, with some longer, steeper climbs. The course is fully marked for navigation and features regular aid stations. The terrain is almost entirely trail, with minimal road sections.

Entry requirements include a qualifying marathon completed within that race cutoff time in the last four years; a trail marathon is preferred but not compulsory. Organisers state that experience of winter trail running and running in darkness is important. The event is a UTMB Index race and is worth 3 ITRA points.

Event services listed for the race include chip timing, live GPS tracking, finisher medals and trophies, first aid and medical cover, and downloadable race photos. The 50 mile and 50K races form the first part of the South Downs Triple Crown. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
