The Hibernal Hills event is a season-opening, single-loop trail event held at Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Horndean, Hampshire. The routes are described as runnable but undulating, with some longer hills. The 50-mile course includes about 6400 ft of ascent and descent and uses parts of the Staunton and Monarchs Ways before joining the South Downs Way back to the park. The event is a UTMB Index race and is worth 3 ITRA points. A permit has been applied for through the ARC; permit number is pending.

Race details

Entrants must be at least 20 years old. A race qualifier is required: completion of at least a marathon within that race’s cutoff time in the last four years, via an official race with online results. Experience of winter trail running and running in darkness is expected. The 50-mile race has seven aid stations and an elevation profile of 6400 ft. Terrain is listed as 99% trail and 1% road. The event provides a fully signed and waymarked route, live GPS tracking and chip timing, medical cover, a bespoke finisher medal, and trophies and prizes for overall and veteran categories.
