Heart of Granite is a challenging 20-mile (32 km) circular mountain race held in the Galloway Mountains, starting and finishing at Caldons Old Campsite in Glen Trool, Newton Stewart, Scotland. The course features 1850 meters of ascent and passes notable landmarks such as Curleywee, Rig of Jarkness, the Murder Hole, and the summit of Merrick. The route includes rugged terrain and requires navigation skills, as it may be run in winter conditions. Fully supported and marshalled by the Galloway Mountain Rescue Team, the event offers aid stations with food and drink, and finishes with hearty soup and local beer.
