Heart of Granite

The Heart of Granite is a challenging 20-mile (32 km) circular race held in the Galloway Mountains, starting and finishing at Caldons Old Campsite in Glen Trool, Newton Stewart, Scotland. The course features 1850 meters of ascent, passing notable landmarks such as Curleywee, Rig of Jarkness, the Murder Hole, and the summit of Merrick. Runners navigate rugged terrain with mandatory kit including map, compass, and waterproof gear. The event is fully supported and marshalled by the Galloway Mountain Rescue Team, who provide aid and refreshments. Designed for experienced fell runners aged 18 and over, the race is held under Scottish Hill Runners association rules, with all profits benefiting the rescue team.
