Race Across Scotland 215 miles

Race Across Scotland is a 215 mile ultramarathon that follows the Southern Upland Way from Portpatrick to Cockburnspath. The route covers about 7218 m of elevation and includes trails across mountains, valleys and forests. The event uses 12 checkpoints distributed along the route to provide refreshments and support; distances to checkpoints are approximate and may be subject to diversion.

The event has a total cut off time of 100 hours and a field limit of 250 places. Entry is by application only and participants must meet qualifying criteria, be at least 20 years old on race day, be in good health and be able to self-navigate using map and compass.

Runners must carry mandatory kit at all times. Key items include a hardcopy Southern Upland Way map, waterproof coat and trousers, baseplate compass, headtorch with spare batteries and a separate backup light source, survival/thermal bag, a fully charged mobile phone, water container of at least 1 litre, and emergency food rations of 500 calories. A GPS tracker is provided by the organiser. Full kit checks are carried out at registration and missing mandatory items will prevent a start.

Support crews are permitted from Glentrool (Checkpoint 3) onwards but are restricted at several locations and must follow event rules on parking, behaviour and access. No pacers are allowed and checkpoints operate cupless service so runners must bring their own cup. Two dropbags per runner are permitted with size and weight limits and specific checkpoint access points. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
