Scrabo Hill Race

Scrabo Hill Race is a NIMRA Championship short distance event held at Scrabo Country Park, Newtownards on 20 August 2026. The event is organised by Ballydrain Harriers & Athletic Club and is limited to 120 entries.

The course is 6.35 km (3.95 miles) with 280 m ascent. The route uses forest trails and singletrack on a figure of eight course completed over two laps. Runners will encounter short steep ascents, narrow paths, steps and areas with tree roots and rocks. The course will be way-marked with sawdust and tape and a dibber point will be used at the start and finish. Marshalls will be positioned at major junctions and crossing points and competitors must follow their instructions.

Entry details include a minimum age of 15 on race day. Entries open 10 July 2026 and close 18 August 2026. Entry fees listed are Seniors £12 affiliated / £14 unaffiliated and Under 18s / 65+ £8 affiliated / £10 unaffiliated. There is a stated entry limit of 120 and entries were recorded during the entry period.

No mandatory kit is required, though a rain jacket is recommended in poor weather. Running poles are not permitted under NIMRA guidelines. Headphones or ear pieces are not allowed for safety reasons. Participants should follow hygiene and distancing guidance at the event and retiring runners should report to the nearest marshall and to race organisers on completion.
