Hamster Endurance Runs
Hamster Endurance Runs is a multi-duration trail event held at Lake Padden. It offers continuous loop running on a well-marked 2.6 mile trail that circumnavigates the lake. The surface is compact dirt and crushed gravel, nontechnical, with minimal overall elevation change; each loop includes 150+ ft of elevation gain. Glow lights mark the course for nighttime hours and runners are required to carry headlamps.
Distances offered:
- 6 hour
- 12 hour
- 24 hour
- 32 hour
Field and event details include a total limit of 130 runners with waitlists for full races. All participants receive a custom wooden keepsake; runners who complete 100 miles receive belt buckles. Awards are given to the top three women, men, and non-binary finishers in each event.
On-course support includes a variety of individually packed snacks, gels, and drinks, plus hot food and beverage options during overnight hours for longer events. Gluten free and vegan options are provided and runners are encouraged to carry specialized fuel if they have strict dietary needs. A large drop-bag area and picnic tables under a shelter are available; tent camping is not permitted outside the shelter, but napping in vehicles is allowed. A limited number of runners may rest under the shelter during the night for longer events. Spectators and crew are permitted; pacers are allowed for the 24 and 32 hour events once the 12 hour event concludes. The start/finish is at the south end of Lake Padden near the baseball fields; parking is available near the site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
