Hamster Endurance Runs
Hamster Endurance Runs is a timed endurance event held August 1-2, 2026 at Lake Padden. The event offers multiple race durations, is limited to 130 runners total, and uses waitlists when races fill. Participants receive a custom wooden keepsake and belt buckles are awarded to runners who complete 100 miles. Top three women, men, and non-binary finishers in each event receive awards. Scholarships are available.
Distances
- 6 hour race
- 12 hour race
- 24 hour race
- 32 hour race
The course is a well marked 2.6 mile loop that circumnavigates Lake Padden. It is a wooded, natural setting with compact dirt and crushed gravel surface, nontechnical footing, and minimal elevation change; each loop contains 150+ feet of elevation gain. Glow lights are used for night hours and runners are required to carry headlamps. Runners may only exit and enter the course at designated areas.
Aid and support include water, electrolyte drinks, individually packed snacks, and hot food and beverage options during night and morning hours for longer races. Gluten free and vegan options are planned and runners are encouraged to bring personal fuel for dietary restrictions. A large drop bag area and picnic tables under a shelter are provided.
Tents are not permitted outside the shelter but runners may nap in cars. Limited shelter space is available overnight for 24 and 32 hour runners. Spectators and crew are allowed. Pacers are permitted for the 24 and 32 hour events after the 12 hour event concludes, one pacer at a time. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
