Fidalgo Trail Run
Fidalgo Trail Run is a trail race held in Deception Pass State Park with the start and finish area at Bowman Bay. The course winds through forested trails and along shorelines, visiting Rosario, Lighthouse, and Lottie Points, then continues around Pass Lake, crosses the Deception Pass Bridge, climbs around Goose Rock, and includes an out-and-back to West Beach. The full marathon completes the half-marathon loop twice, while the 5-mile course is an abbreviated version of the half-marathon.
Aid stations are placed along the course with volunteers, food, and hydration. Listed aid station locations include miles 1.75 for the 5 mile; miles 1.7 and 6.8 for the half; and miles 1.7, 6.8, 13.1, 14.8, and 19.8 for the full. Elevation gain is given as approximately 1300 ft for 5 Mile, 3300 ft for Half, and 6600 ft for Full.
The Deception Pass Bridge offers wide views but stands at about 180 ft and remains open to traffic during the event; runners use the pedestrian walkway. Trails and park facilities remain open to other users during the race, so participants may encounter other visitors.
The event is cupless; participants must carry a refillable container. Parking at Bowman Bay is limited and half-marathon participants are shuttled from an off-site lot. The race supports environmental and community efforts including the Washington Trails Association, a Trail Mix Fund for entry assistance, a Trees not Tees option, and a non-binary registration and award category.
