The route includes the Rosario head loop, a Lighthouse loop, the Lottie Point Loop, Passage toward Pass Lake, crossing the Deception Pass Bridge to the Goose Rock loop, and an out-and-back to West Beach. The 5-mile course is an abbreviated version of the half-marathon route. The full marathon completes two loops of the half-marathon course.

Half-marathon and full-marathon runners cross the Deception Pass Bridge. The bridge height is about 180 ft and it remains open to vehicle traffic during the event; runners use the pedestrian walkway.
