Fidalgo Trail Run at Deception Pass State Park

The Fidalgo Trail Run is a multi-distance trail event held at Deception Pass State Park with the start and finish located at Bowman Bay, a waterside site with a sandy beach and picnic area. Courses use a combination of loops and lollipops that bring runners to the shorelines at Rosario, Lighthouse, and Lottie Points, and include forested trail sections around Pass Lake. Half-marathon runners follow a loop that crosses the Deception Pass Bridge and summits Goose Rock before a long out-and-back to West Beach; marathon runners complete the half-marathon loop twice. The Deception Pass Bridge remains open to traffic during the event and runners use the pedestrian walkway; the bridge height is about 180 ft.

Aid stations are positioned throughout the courses with volunteers, food, and hydration, and finish-line food and treats are provided. The event is cupless so all runners must carry a refillable container. Elevation gain is listed as approximately 1300 ft for the 5 mile, 3300 ft for the half, and 6600 ft for the full. Parking at Bowman Bay is limited and a Discover Pass is required to park; half-marathon participants are parked off-site and shuttled. A children’s Woodland Speeders race runs about 0.6 miles along the beach. The event supports environmental stewardship and offers a Trees not Tees option and handmade finisher swag.
