Fidalgo Trail Run : Deception Pass State Park

The Fidalgo Trail Run takes place in Deception Pass State Park with the start and finish at Bowman Bay. The event offers three course options:

  • 5 Mile
  • Half marathon
  • Full marathon

All courses follow a similar route with multiple loops and lollipops that visit the steep shorelines at Rosario, Lighthouse, and Lottie Points. The half marathon continues on forested trails around Pass Lake, crosses the Deception Pass Bridge, and includes the Goose Rock summit and an out and back to West Beach. Marathon participants complete the half marathon loop twice. The Deception Pass Bridge remains open to traffic during the event; runners use the pedestrian walkway and the bridge height is about 180 ft.

Aid stations with volunteers, food, and hydration are placed along the courses. Elevation gain is listed as approximately 1300 ft for the 5 Mile, 3300 ft for the half marathon, and 6600 ft for the full marathon. The event is cupless so all runners must carry a refillable container.

Parking at Bowman Bay is limited and the organizer provides an off site parking and shuttle arrangement for half-marathon participants. Online registration closes the Friday before the race at noon. Youth and senior participants may be eligible for a 15% discount on registration fees. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
