Larrabee Lakes

Larrabee Lakes is a trail running event based at Fairhaven Park in Bellingham, Washington, with courses that enter Larrabee State Park and the Chuckanut ridgeline. The event offers multiple distances that share sections of singletrack and the Interurban Trail before splitting into their respective routes.

The course winds through lush green forest, passes picturesque lakes, and runs along narrow ridgelines formed by the Chuckanut Formation. There are recurring peek-a-boo views of Mt. Baker and Bellingham Bay. Terrain includes smooth singletrack, rocky and steep sections, and technical ups and downs on ridge trails. Trails remain open to other users during the event, including equestrians, pedestrians, and cyclists.

Distances:

  • 12K: elevation gain about 1500′; aid stations at miles 2.5 and 6.
  • 25K: elevation gain about 2900′; aid stations at miles 2.5, 8.5, and 13.
  • 50K: elevation gain about 6500′; aid stations at miles 2.5, 9, 18.5, 24.5, and 29.

Logistics notes include overlapping courses that split and rejoin, a cupless race policy requiring runners to carry a refillable container, and an option for 50K runners to leave a labeled drop bag under 20L at the Lost Lake aid station. Finishers receive handmade finisher swag and a unique handcrafted race award. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
