After a short warmup on the Interurban Trail the courses enter singletrack through lush forest and past lakes. Runners encounter narrow ridgelines with views of Mt. Baker and Bellingham Bay. The courses share many sections, then split and rejoin at different points; runners should follow course markings for their chosen distance.

The 12K turns back toward the finish after the first ridgeline. The 25K and 50K continue on Lost Lake Trail and then separate again, with the 50K descending toward Old Samish Road and an aid station before climbing back to ridge trails and lakes. The 25K includes a stair section up to the ridge and technical ups and downs on Ridge Trail. The 50K also visits Cleator Road, Two Dollar Trail and Fragrance Lake before returning to the common ridge section.

Trails are open to other users during the event, including equestrians, pedestrians and cyclists. The route contains rough, steep and rocky sections. Organizers provide safety guidance and information about what to do if a runner becomes lost or injured.

Finishers receive a unique handcrafted race award. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
