The Gunpowder Plod takes place on Sunday 2 November 2025 at York Knavesmire. It uses the previous 5 km loop; the majority of each loop runs on a paved service track with approximately 1 km of each loop on grass. Runners may choose to complete one, two or three loops on the day. A separate family fun run is held before the main event on a 1 mile grass loop. All participants and fun runners receive a Gunpowder Plot themed medal and chocolate goodies, and homemade cake is available at the finish. The event is timed, described as flat and multi-terrain, and has no time cut offs.

Logistics and entry

Race HQ is at Hamilton Panthers Clubhouse, with toilets, changing facilities and hot drinks for sale. Free on-street parking is available along Knavesmire Road and Racecourse Road. Cycle storage is available at the race HQ. The event is cupless; participants must bring a labelled bottle or cup. Tables will be provided at the start/finish area for bottles each lap, and an aid station can fill bottles with water or squash before, during or after the event. Final event information will be emailed the week before; registration and bib pick up take place on the morning of the event. Entry is limited to 150; minimum age is 9 years. Entries close 26/10/2025. Entry fees listed are Affiliated £20.00 and Unattached £22.00. No refunds; transfers and deferrals are allowed only up to 7 days prior.
