The Grand Traverse Mountain Run is a challenging 40-mile point-to-point ultramarathon from Crested Butte to Aspen, Colorado, traversing the Elk Mountains with over 6,000 feet of elevation gain. Held annually, the race follows the route of the Grand Traverse Backcountry Ski race, offering runners a rugged alpine course with five aid stations and mandatory gear requirements for safety. The event supports Crested Butte Nordic, a nonprofit organization, and is capped at 350 participants.
