Lead King Loop 25K, 8M, and Kids Run
The Lead King Loop is an annual running event held in Marble, Colorado, occurring during the peak fall season. The event features several distances through the Elk Mountains, including a 25 km loop, an 8 mile out-and-back, and a 2.5 km kids race. All proceeds from the event support the Marble Charter School, funding instructional supplies for students and staff.
The course options include:
- 25 km: A dirt road course starting at Thompson Park. It features 2,900 feet of vertical climbing over the first 4 miles, reaching an elevation of 10,000 feet. The route passes through Lead King Basin, the town of Crystal, and the Crystal Mill.
- 8 Mile Quarry Climb: A route starting at Marble Children's Park that follows Quarry Road through the Yule Marble Quarry area before returning to the start.
- 2.5 km Kids Race: A course for children that loops around the town of Marble and finishes back at Thompson Park.
Participants receive a custom event shirt and a finisher medal. Entry also includes a post-race barbecue meal and a beer for adult runners. The 25 km course is subject to a strict cutoff time for safety. The event is part of the Colorado Mountain Half Marathon+ Series. Please note that mobile phone service is very limited at the event location in Thompson Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
