Lead King Loop 25K, 8M, Kids Run, Marble, Colorado

Held on September 13, 2026 in Marble, Colorado, the event offers multiple race distances on dirt roads and town streets, with mountain scenery and community support.

  • 25K Lead King Loop, dirt road course through Lead King Basin and past Crystal Mill
  • 8 Mile Quarry Climb, out and back along Yule Marble Quarry Road through town and Millsite Park
  • Kids 2.5K, loop around Marble starting and finishing at Thompson Park; t-shirt and goody bag

The 25K course starts at Thompson Park, rounds Beaver Lake, and climbs about 2,900 vertical feet over roughly four miles into Lead King Basin. Runners traverse near 10,000 feet, pass waterfalls and the historic town of Crystal, go by the 110‑year‑old Crystal Mill, climb out of the river valley, and descend Daniel's Hill to the finish. The Quarry Climb follows Quarry Road up from Marble and returns to the Marble Children's Park.

Entry includes a custom event shirt, a post‑race Slow Groovin' BBQ meal, a cold beer, and a finisher medal. There is typically very limited mobile phone service at and around Thompson Park. Advance packet pickup and late registration occur the day before in Carbondale at Independence Run and Hike. A course cutoff is enforced for safety.

All proceeds benefit Marble Charter School, a small rural public charter school serving about 45 students from nearby communities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
