Lead King Loop 25K Run and Quarry Climb
The Lead King Loop event takes place on September 13, 2026 in the Marble area and runs through the Elk Mountains during peak fall colors. The main course is the 25K Lead King Loop that winds through Lead King Basin, passes the Crystal Mill, and goes through the historic Town of Crystal. An alternative course, the 8 mile Quarry Climb, is an out and back route along the Yule Marble Quarry Road and passes near the Maroon Bells-Snomass and Ragged Wilderness areas.
The event includes a post-race homemade Slow Groovin' BBQ meal and a cold beer for participants aged 21 and over. Little runners can join a 2.5K kids fun run around Beaver Lake. All participants receive a custom event shirt and a finisher medal. The race is staffed entirely by volunteers and all proceeds benefit the Marble Charter School. The Lead King Loop is a member of the Colorado Mountain Half Marathon+ Series.
