Lead King Loop 25K, 8M, Kids Run - Marble, Colorado
This event on September 13, 2026, offers three distance options set in the Elk Mountains near Marble, Colorado. The main course is the Lead King Loop 25K, a dirt road route that starts at Thompson Park, follows Beaver Lake, climbs about 2,900 vertical feet over roughly 4 miles into Lead King Basin, traverses near 10,000 feet elevation, passes waterfalls and the historic Town of Crystal, and goes by the 110-year-old Crystal Mill before returning toward the finish.
The Quarry Climb is an 8-mile out-and-back that begins and ends at Marble Children’s Park, runs through town and Millsite Park, and follows Quarry Road. The Kids 2.5K starts and finishes at Thompson Park and loops around Marble; children receive a t-shirt, a goody bag, and entry in a kids raffle.
All race entries include a custom event shirt, a post-race Slow Groovin' BBQ meal, a cold beer, and a custom finisher medal. Advance packet pickup is offered the day before the event, and there is a course cutoff enforced for safety. Mobile phone service is typically very limited at and around Thompson Park.
