Packet pickup is held on race day at Crested Butte Community School, 818 Red Lady Avenue. The finish line is at the same location as the start. Entries are non-transferable and a photo ID is required to receive a race packet. Runners must attach their timing chip to their shoe to receive an official time.

Course and logistics

Courses traverse trails in the Gunnison National Forest and pass through mountain meadows and ridges. Lower elevations feature wildflowers and fall foliage. The event is authorized under a special use permit with the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and Gunnison National Forests.

Aid stations operate cupless. Water dispensers are located at the start/finish and at every aid station; runners should bring a reusable cup, bottle, or bladder. Explore Gothic Mountain in Crested Butte on a 23.5 mile competitive or 17.85 mile recreational Nordic ski loop, raising funds for Crested Butte Nordic. Capped at 200, avalanche gear and a Colorado SAR card or hunting license are required.

Grin & Bear It is an annual Crested Butte trail event featuring a challenging 25 km loop, a 15 km out and back, and a mountain bike route through high alpine terrain and big climbs. Registration opens December 1, 2025.

Run rugged high alpine trails around Aspen with 50K, marathon or half options, each climbing above 10,000 feet. Finish at Rio Grande Park during the Duck Derby festival with live music, food trucks and community fun.

Run 40 miles across the Elk Mountains from Crested Butte to Aspen along the Grand Traverse route with more than 6,000 feet of climbing. A fundraising point to point ultramarathon with aid stations and a post race shuttle.
