Gothic Mountain Tour
The Gothic Mountain Tour is a Nordic ski event that circumnavigates Gothic Mountain and is organized by Crested Butte Nordic as a fundraising event for its 501(c)(3) non profit organization. The event is offered in two race formats and uses the CB Nordic trail system for the finish at the Magic Meadows Yurt.
The competitive course begins in Crested Butte behind the Crested Butte Community School. The recreational course begins at the Snodgrass Trailhead in Mt. Crested Butte. Both courses circle Gothic Mountain and conclude on the CB Nordic trail system at the Magic Meadows Yurt. The event is minimally supported; aid stations at Gothic Townsite, Top of the World, and Pittsburgh Townsite provide hydration and some nutrition. Race staff will transport one small finish line bag to the Magic Meadows Yurt, and free shuttles circulate to return racers to parking areas since the finish is about a mile from the trailhead.
Registration opens October 15 and the event is capped at 200 participants with a traditional waitlist. The organizer does not offer entry refunds or participant transfers and recommends purchasing Racer Protection at registration. Mandatory equipment includes avalanche rescue gear (beacon, shovel, probe), a helmet, neck gaiter or balaclava, and emergency insulation layers. A Colorado Outdoor Search and Rescue Card or current Colorado hunting or fishing license is required and must be shown at bib pick up. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
