Crested Butte, United States • 15 Feb 2026

Event overview

The Gothic Mountain Tour is a Nordic ski event in Crested Butte, Colorado, held on Sunday, February 15, 2026. It is operated as a fundraising event for Crested Butte Nordic, a 501(c)(3) recreational non-profit organization. The event offers two courses:

  • 23.5 miles competitive course
  • 17.85 miles recreational course

Registration opens in mid-October (October 15, 2025 on the event registration page) and the field is capped at 200 participants per Forest Service permits. The race is open to participants aged 16 and older. Entry fees are nonrefundable.

Course, logistics, and rules

Both courses circumnavigate Gothic Mountain. The competitive course starts behind Crested Butte Community School; the recreational course starts at the Snodgrass Trailhead. Both finish on the CB Nordic trail system at the Magic Meadows Yurt. The event is minimally supported; aid stations at Gothic Townsite, Top of the World, and Pittsburgh Townsite provide hydration and some nutrition. Race staff will transport one small finish-line bag to the Magic Meadows Yurt. The finish is about one mile from the trailhead and free shuttles will circulate to return racers to parking areas.

Mandatory gear includes avalanche rescue equipment (beacon, shovel, probe) and personal protection items (helmet; neck gaiter or balaclava; jacket and pants for emergency insulation). A Colorado Outdoor Search and Rescue Card or current Colorado hunting/fishing license is required and must be shown at bib pick-up. A waitlist will be maintained if the race sells out.
