Glentress Trail Running Event

The Glentress Trail Race takes place in Glentress Forest, part of the Tweed Valley Forest Park in the Scottish Borders. The location is between the towns of Peebles and Innerleithen, approximately one hour from Edinburgh. The event offers three distances: a 21 km half marathon, a 10 km, and a new for 2026 5 km gravel run.

All routes start from the Glentress Peel Visitor Centre Trailhead. The terrain includes forest trails, woodland singletrack, heather-clad moorland, and sections of mountain bike trails. The 21 km route is described as technical with over 600 meters of ascent, featuring named sections like 'The Goat Track' and 'Spooky Woods'. The 10 km course has 270 meters of ascent packed into its first 6 kilometers. The 5 km route is designed for beginners, consisting mainly of gentle slopes, firm gravel trails, and forest roads.

The event is held in conjunction with a Glentress 42 km Trail Marathon. Registration is on the day at the Glentress Peel café. Parking at Glentress uses an ANPR system with charges ranging from free for 30 minutes to £6 for all day. Kit is mandatory for 21 km participants, and all routes are fully marked. There are hydration stations on the 21 km and 10 km courses, though participants are advised not to rely solely on them and to carry their own nutrition.

The venue has an on-site café, changing facilities, toilets, showers, and accommodation options including pods and camping. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
