The Glen Lyon Ultra Marathon takes place on 6 June 2026 at Loch Lyon, Pubil, Glen Lyon, Perthshire (PH15 2PX). The event is a 31-mile foot race with approximately 3,500 ft of ascent and awards 2 UTMB points. Entry places are limited (total places 180). Entry fees are shown as £63 (discounted) and £65 (standard). The race fee includes a race memento, a goody bag and a technical race t-shirt or vest.

There are no specific qualifying requirements, but runners are asked to be confident in their ability to complete the distance and elevation; regular training runs of around 20 miles are suggested. Refunds: a 30-day cooling-off period applies with a £15 administration charge; after 30 days up to 12 weeks before the race a 50% refund may be offered; within 12 weeks of race day no refund is offered. No deferrals or transfers between runners are allowed under normal circumstances.

Course and logistics

The route starts with a loop of Loch Lyon that includes around six river crossings, so feet will get wet. After the loop runners pass the start/finish area to collect a drop bag, then climb into Glen Lochay to complete a high-level and low-level section before returning over the hill to finish in Glen Lyon. The route is about 85% off road with a middle section of tarmac. Several water crossings occur in the first 8 miles; if crossings are in spate a route B will be used.

Water stations/checkpoints are approximately at 8 miles, a halfway drop-bag point at 15.5 miles, then around 20 miles and 26 miles, with the finish at about 31 miles. Mandatory kit includes a foil blanket, water container, food, a working mobile with race control number, a small first aid kit and a race vest to carry these items. Camping at Loch Lyon Dam the night before is possible; no open fires are allowed. Weather is described as unpredictable, with examples ranging from snow to very hot conditions.
