Loch Lyon, United Kingdom • 6 Jun 2026

Event overview

Glen Lyon Ultra Marathon is a 31-mile foot race held on 6 June 2026 in remote Glen Lyon in the Perthshire hills. The course has about 3,500 ft of ascent and awards 2 UTMB points. The route is largely off road - approximately 85% - with a middle section of tarmac. Total places are listed as 180. Entry fees are shown as £63 (discount) or £65 (standard) before the stated deadline.

Route, aid and logistics

The route begins with a loop of Loch Lyon that includes around six river crossings where feet will get wet. After the loop runners pass the start/finish area to collect a drop bag, then climb into Glen Lochay to complete a high and low level section before returning over the hill to finish in Glen Lyon. Water stations and checkpoints are located at around 8 miles, the halfway point (about 15.5 miles), about 20 miles and roughly 26-27 miles. Only one drop bag is allowed at the halfway point. Camping is possible at Loch Lyon Dam the night before the race; no open fires are permitted and toilets are available.

Entry, kit and rules

There are no specific qualification requirements, but entrants are asked to be confident they can complete the distance and elevation; regular runs of about 20 miles are recommended. Runners must carry mandatory kit (examples given include a foil blanket, water container, food, working mobile with race control number, small first aid kit and a race vest). Other rules include ID at registration, no transfer of places, no on-day entries, and compliance with event and Covid-19 protocols.
