Glen Lyon Ultra Marathon

The Glen Lyon Ultra Marathon is scheduled for 6th June 2026 in remote Glen Lyon in the Perthshire hills. The course measures 31 miles with about 3,500 ft of ascent and carries 2 UTMB points. The entry fee is listed as £63/65. The race fee includes a race memento, a goody bag and a technical race t-shirt or vest for collection on race day.

Route, checkpoints and rules

The route begins with a loop of Loch Lyon that includes around six river crossings in the first eight miles; these crossings mean feet will get wet. After returning through the start/finish area to collect drop bags, the route climbs into Glen Lochay for a high and low level section before climbing back and finishing in Glen Lyon. The course is about 85% off road with a middle section on tarmac. Water stations and checkpoints are approximately at 8 miles, 15.5 miles (halfway drop bags), 20 miles, 26 miles and the finish at about 31 miles.

Runners must carry mandatory kit such as a foil blanket, water container, food, a working mobile phone with race control number entered, a small first aid kit and a race vest. The event runs under a Scottish Athletics race licence and follows Covid-19 protocols; rules include no spectators and no dogs. Camping at Loch Lyon Dam is permitted but open fires are not allowed.
