Glen Lyon Ultra Marathon
Loch Lyon, United Kingdom • 6 Jun 2026
Overview
The Glen Lyon Ultra Marathon takes place on 6 June 2026 in Glen Lyon, Perthshire. The event distance is 31 miles with approximately 3,500 ft of elevation gain. The race awards 2 UTMB points. Entry fees are listed as £63 (discounted) or £65 (standard). The race fee includes a race memento, goody bag and a technical race t-shirt or vest.
Course and logistics
The route is mostly off road (about 85%) with a middle section on tarmac. The course starts with a loop of Loch Lyon that includes around six river crossings in the first 8 miles, so feet are likely to get wet. After the loop runners cross the start/finish area to collect a drop bag, then climb over a hill into Glen Lochay to complete a high and low level section before returning over the hill and descending to the finish in Glen Lyon. A Route B will be used if the water crossings are in spate. Water stations and checkpoints are provided at roughly 8 miles, the halfway drop bag at 15.5 miles, approximately 20 miles, approximately 26 miles and at the finish.
Entry, kit and event rules
There are no specific qualification requirements, but runners should be confident of completing the distance. One drop bag is allowed at the halfway point. Camping is available at Loch Lyon Dam the night before and toilets are provided. Roads to the start are single track and parking is controlled by marshals. Mandatory kit is required and will be confirmed in the pre-race briefing; listed items include a foil blanket, water container, food, working mobile phone, small first aid kit and a race vest to carry these. Refund rules apply with a 30-day cooling-off fee and reduced refund windows. Other rules include no transfer of places, no walking poles and no dogs.
