Aberfoyle Trail run 2026

Aberfoyle Trail run 2026 is a community running event in Aberfoyle and in the wild and beautiful Queen Elizabeth National Park. The event features two distances:

  • 10k - scenic trail on trails, single track and unmade ground.
  • 1k - flat trail within walking distance of the village for primary school age.

The 10k route has been changed from the previous year and starts and finishes in Aberfoyle. The 10k course will be signposted and marshalled. Participants remain responsible for their own safety and must ensure they are appropriately dressed and trained for the event and weather conditions.

The 1k is intended for primary school age children. All children must have appropriate clothing and footwear and must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The event is organised by Aberfoyle Primary School and Nursery Parent Council and all funds raised go to the school. A thank you donation will go to Aberfoyle Brownies for providing water and cheers on route and to Trossachs Radio for providing music and pre-run motivation.

Both runs will be fully marked and marshalled and timed using electronic chip timing. Results are available as soon as a runner crosses the finish line. The event is licensed under a Scottish Athletics Permit and supported by ProTay event and timing organisation.

Entry fees are £20 for the 10k (age 18 plus) and £5 for the 1k (primary school age with responsible adult present). A £3 levy applies for non Scottish Athletics members; under 9s do not pay the levy. The 10k entry limit is 200 with a waiting list once full; the 1k limit is 50 with no waiting list. No deferrals or refunds will be issued.

On the day registration opens at Aberfoyle memorial hall at 8am and closes at 10am for the 1k and 10.45am for the 10k. There is no official parking but car parking is available at Aberfoyle main car park. Aberfoyle offers pubs, coffee and cake shops and gift shops. Unique event T shirts will be available for purchase as souvenirs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
