The Furty Furlong is a 3.75-mile (30-furlong) cross-country race hosted by Kingstone Runners. It takes place on May 2, 2026, in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, at Mapplewell Meadows Farm.

Course

The off-road course is run on private grounds. It is described as a tough, hilly route consisting mostly of grass with some gravel or shale sections. Parts of the course can be muddy.

Facilities and Logistics

Race headquarters and number collection is at the on-site View Cafe. Parking is available on-site, with car-sharing encouraged. Limited motorhome and caravan pitches are available by contacting the farm directly. Toilets are available, and there are water stations on the course. The event does not have distance markers, changing facilities, showers, or a baggage store. Food and drinks are available for purchase at the View Cafe before and after the race.

Registration and Prizes

Online entries close at 6 p.m. on May 1, 2026. Entry on the day may be available for an additional fee if the event does not sell out. The race has an entry limit of 150 participants. Prizes are awarded in multiple categories, including Senior and Veteran age groups for men and women, first unattached runner, and spot prizes. A trophy is also awarded to the first corporate team, which consists of three members of any gender. Prize-giving takes place at the View Cafe after the race. This self guided trail race explores 7 miles of Derbyshire's Moss Valley. Runners navigate using written instructions on a scenic route through woodlands and farmland. The event starts from the Green Lawns Community Centre.

A 4.66-mile trail run on an undulating mixed-terrain course through Derbyshire countryside. The marked route finishes on a runnable hill with medals for all, plus post-race refreshments and a charity raffle.
