Event Overview
The Furty Furlong is an off-road cross-country event hosted by Kingstone Runners in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The race takes place on a hilly course within the private grounds of Mapplewell Meadows Farm. Participants follow a route that primarily consists of grass surfaces, supplemented by sections of gravel and shale. Due to the nature of the terrain, certain parts of the course can be muddy.

Course and Facilities
The race profile is categorized as hilly and does not include distance markers along the route. Due to the terrain and course conditions, the event is not suitable for wheelchairs. Facilities at the venue include water stations and toilets. However, there are no changing rooms, showers, or baggage storage areas available on-site.
Race headquarters are located at the View Cafe, where participants collect their race numbers. Food and drinks are available for purchase at the cafe both before and after the event. Parking is available on-site at Mapplewell Meadows Farm, and there are limited pitches for motorhomes and caravans which must be arranged directly with the venue.
Participation and Awards
The event is open to individuals aged 14 and over. Awards are presented in several categories, including Senior Men and Ladies, as well as Veteran categories from age 40 through 70 in ten-year increments. A special trophy and prizes are designated for the first Corporate Team, which consists of three members of any gender.
