Event overview

The Firelane Trail Trial is a time trial trail race produced by Go Beyond Racing on May 2, 2026, at the lower Firelane 1 trailhead in Forest Park, Portland (near NW St. Helens Road). The field is limited to 144 entries and registration closes April 25. Entry fees vary by registration period: $55 (Dec 1–14), $65 (Dec 15–Feb 15), and $75 (Feb 16–Apr 25). There is no day-of-race registration, and registrations are nontransferable. Cancellations more than 30 days before the race receive a 50% credit toward a future Go Beyond Racing event; cancellations 30 days or less before the race receive no credit.

Course, logistics and rules

The course is an out-and-back that follows the entirety of Firelane 1. The full distance is 4.45 miles roundtrip with 1,266 feet of total gain and total loss; the climb to the turnaround is 2.23 miles with about 979 feet of gain. The route crosses Wildwood and Leif Erikson trails and includes steep sections sometimes exceeding 20% grade. Runners start in waves at ten-minute intervals. Bib pickup occurs at the start; a tent is available for coat drop. Parking at the new Firelane 1 trailhead is limited (about 20 spots), with additional nearby options and some street parking; Great Notion Brewing is 1.8 miles from the trailhead and serves as the post-race gathering location with a live stream and live results. Run scenic, muddy trails at Hagg Mud 50K or 25K around Henry Hagg Lake in Scoggins Valley Park, Oregon. Both races include a group start, aid stations, finisher socks and a lively post race celebration.
