Event Overview

The Tillamook Burn Trail Run offers two trail race distances, a 50 mile and a 55K run. A 50M/55K Double option is available for running both races consecutively over two days. The event takes place on May 16 & 17, 2026, at historic Reehers Camp in the Tillamook State Forest, roughly halfway between Portland and the Oregon Coast.

Course & Setting

The course runs through the Tillamook State Forest, a second-growth forest. The trails feature old, charred stumps and "grey ghost" snags, which are remnants of historical forest fires. Participants can expect waterfalls, stream crossings, and spring foliage. The staging area at Reehers Camp was originally a Civilian Conservation Corps camp built in the 1930s.

Registration & Fees

Registration operates on a tiered pricing system:

  • 50 Miler: $190 (Nov 3-14), $200 (Nov 15-Dec 31), $215 (Jan 1-May 10).
  • 55K: $140, $150, $165 for the same periods.
  • 50M/55K Double: $295, $315, $340 for the same periods. Registration fees do not include processing fees, sales tax, or items like race shirts or hats. A $12 shuttle bus fee applies for runners needing transport to the 50-mile start line.

Event Details

Bib pickup is available on the Friday before the race. The 50-mile race starts at 6:00 AM and the 55K at 7:00 AM. The final cutoff for the 50-mile is 8:00 PM (14 hours), and for the 55K it is 5:00 PM (10 hours). Parking is available at the Reehers Camp Day Use Area at no fee, but space is limited. The nearest accommodations are in Hillsboro and Forest Grove.

A trail event at Henry Hagg Lake offering 50K (two loops) and 25K (one loop) on single-track and gravel. Cupless aid stations, enforced cutoffs for the 50K, finishers receive socks and post-race food.

A 100 mile out and back ultramarathon at Stub Stewart State Park covering over 7,000 feet across asphalt, gravel and dirt. A two person Royal Ultra Relay runs the same course and the race uses a 32 hour overall cutoff.

A loop-based trail event at L.L. Stub Stewart State Park on April 5, 2026, offering one-, two-, three- and four-loop distance options on a varied 6.5 mile loop with cupless aid stations and awards for top finishers.

A time trial on Firelane 1 in Forest Park: a **4.45-mile** out-and-back with 1,266 feet of climb and descent, wave starts every ten minutes, limited to 144 runners, followed by a live-feed post-race gathering at Great Notion Brewing.
