Stumptown Trail Runs

Trail Racing in Forest Park
The Stumptown Trail Runs take place over the Memorial Day weekend in Portland's Forest Park. This 5,200-acre urban forest reserve in the Tualatin Mountains features a vast network of over 80 miles of trails. Participants run through second-growth forests and patches of old growth on routes that overlook the Willamette River.
The event features two distinct distances held on different days:
- 50 km: This route includes the Wildwood Trail, a National Recreation Trail, and features approximately 4,000 feet of elevation gain.
- Half Marathon: This course involves 1,800 feet of elevation gain and loss across various wooded paths.
The start line is located a quarter mile up the Leif Erikson Trail from the Thurman Street gate. Since parking in the nearby residential neighborhood is limited, carpooling or public transit is encouraged. These are running-specific events and are not intended for walking.
Participants receive a finisher's pint glass and have access to a post-race party featuring food and beverages. Awards are presented to the top three male, female, and non-binary finishers overall, as well as the top three finishers in ten-year age categories. Both races benefit the Forest Park Conservancy. Registration includes an optional purchase for race merchandise and closes in mid-May. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
