PDX 50-50
PDX 50-50 is an organized running event in Portland, Oregon, put on by Run Pacifica. The event offers two route options that share the first portion of the course and diverge after the Sellwood Bridge decision point.
- 50K
- ~53 miles
The start and finish are at Brooklyn Park in SE Portland on the uphill/10th Avenue side. The route follows the Eastbank Esplanade to the Steel Bridge, continues through North Portland and Willamette Boulevard, passes the University of Portland, and crosses the St Johns Bridge into Forest Park. A roughly one mile Ridge Trail segment in Forest Park is steeper, somewhat technical, narrow, and can be slick when wet; road shoes are recommended for the remainder of the mostly flat and smooth course. The route then follows Leif Eriksen to Thurman Drive, dips through NW Portland with opportunities for water and bathroom stops near Wallace Park, and reaches the Sellwood Bridge at about mile 29.
The longer option continues through River View Cemetery, Tryon Creek Park, the Terwilliger Trail, Lake Oswego and Mary S Young Park, crosses the Willamette to Oregon City, follows the Trolley Trail from Gladstone, and returns to Sellwood Bridge before finishing at Brooklyn Park. The event is unsupported with no aid stations and no course markings. GPX routes have been recorded for both distances. Past measurements show the longer course is about 53 miles and the 50K route has measured near 31.5 to 32 miles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
